Annual Meeting

Each year, usually mid-June, the Association conducts its major business and educational meeting which is devoted to learning, communication of ideas, social interaction and recreation. Annual Meeting has, as its tradition, the involvement of supplier and bus operator members and the families of both. A key characteristic of the yearly event is its informality and relaxed atmosphere.

PBA 2009 Annual Meeting Wrap-up


Despite the damp and cool weather……a fantastic time was had by all annual meeting attendees!  David Jackson, Ann Pilcher and the Pocono Mountains Convention & Visitors Bureau planned many enjoyable functions including a golf tournament, FAM trips, receptions, dinners and hospitality suites.  Our second annual Industry Expo gave our bus manufacturers and industry suppliers an opportunity to showcase their buses and product/services to our numerous bus operators in attendance.  The Sales Retreat was a great opportunity for the bus operator member Tour Planners and Travel Suppliers to have one-on-one time to drum up new business opportunities. In addition to the various networking opportunities, there were educational programs and official business during the General Membership Meeting.

 

The meeting kicked off on Tuesday afternoon with the annual golf tournament at The Inn at Pocono Manor, followed by an Ice Breaker Reception at The Villages at Pocono Raceway where we had a unique opportunity to ride around the famous Pocono Raceway on our demo buses! No racing, though, was permitted amongst the demo buses!  The attendees had several local restaurants to choose from for a Dine-Around, and the night concluded with a hospitality suite sponsored by Milestone Hospitality Service – The Chateau Resort and Conference Center.

 

Wednesday morning began with breakfast sponsored by Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and featured an educational program which was kicked off by motivational speaker Bruce Boguski, followed by Matt Daecher of Daecher Consulting Group, and Floyd Warner of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry.  The Industry Supplier Expo was an opportunity to eat-and-meet, after which attendees had their choice of the Crossings Premium Outlets-Barley Creek Brewing Company tasting or the Pocono Whitewater bike ride.  The evening began with the Camelbeach Reception and Beach Party which included Showcase Pocono, followed by the hospitality suite sponsored by Luzerne County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

 

Thursday morning started off with breakfast sponsored by the Great Wolf Lodge followed by the General Membership Meeting and presentations from Ken Presley of UMA and Peter Pantuso of ABA. The FAM trips for the day included lunch and Forever Patsy Cline Show at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort and a tour of Jim Thorpe.  A reception was hosted at Mount Airy Casino Resort along with an opportunity for slot play. The evening concluded with a hospitality suite sponsored by Pocono Whitewater.

 

Friday closed the meeting with a breakfast  sponsored by Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, the morning session of the Sales Retreat, lunch sponsored by the Pocono Mountains Convention & Visitors Bureau celebrating 75 year , and concluded with the afternoon session of the Sales Retreat.
